Dr Jim Ford is consultant clinical lead for Salus Occupational Health and Safety in north west England. An early career in general practice was followed by a long spell in the civil service, initially on benefits assessment but later in health policy. As a medical director at the former Department for Education and Employment he was responsible for developing rehabilitation-for-work policy.
