Survey of OH professionals. Part 2: hours of work, benefits and professional development
Summary:
In the second part of his analysis of the OH at Work 2009 pay survey, Paul Suff looks at hours of work, benefits, training issues and attitude of respondents to their profession.
THE ‘typical’ occupational health and health and safety (OH&S) professional is around 50 years old and has been working as a practitioner for 13 years. Most are satisfied with the profession generally, believe they have relatively good career opportunities and feel valued by their employer. However, the vast majority are working longer hours to accommodate an ever-increasing workload. That is the picture of the OH&S profession in 2009,
Paul Suff is contributing editor of Occupational Health [at Work].
